I have been practicing in the mental health field for over 5+ years. I have worked with a diverse population from teens, youth, adults, and seniors in a variety of settings such as shelters, CHCs, and local hospitals.
Growing up in an Asian household where mental health did not exist and was stigmatized to be bad, I always felt different from my family members when it came to expressing emotions, being vulnerable and highly attuned to others, and ultimately felt like a fish out of water – an outsider that was “too sensitive”. Now, embracing and loving this part of me, I use those “weaknesses” as my strengths. I have felt my own growth and personal discovery through my work and know that growth can happen at any time, anywhere, even in the direst of situations. I would be honoured to come along with you on your journey as you learn to embrace who you are and create new paths that let you experience the life you want
I recently completed an 8-month clinical practicum with Peel Psychology and Therapy Centre (PPTC) providing pro-bono sessions to clients with a wide range of mental health concerns including grief, loss, trauma, depression, and mood disorders, just to name a few. In the past, I worked as a Mental Health Counsellor at Toronto East General Hospital for the Outpatient group that provided supportive counselling to patients with a primary presentation of psychosis. I have also worked as a frontline worker supervising a shelter for the marginalized community of Downtown Toronto.
